In Austin’s Bouldin Creek neighborhood, The Inn at Green Pastures adds a fresh destination to one of the city’s longest-standing hospitality landmarks. Designed by architecture and interiors firm Clayton Korte, the boutique hotel sits on the historic Green Pastures estate, where a modest farmhouse was first built in 1895 before becoming a beloved restaurant and gathering place in 1946. Today, the new hotel expands that legacy while welcoming guests just minutes from South Congress Avenue and South First Street.

The Inn is the second stage of a long-term master plan led by Clayton Korte. After restoring the original farmhouse as Mattie’s restaurant and event venue, the team introduced a new hotel that complements the historic property while establishing its own identity. Opened in December 2025, the hotel features 63 guest rooms, an all-day restaurant and bar, lounge, fitness centre, private pool and event spaces, all within a five-acre estate shaded by more than 220 heritage oak trees.

The three-storey, L-shaped building sits beneath an extensive oak canopy, preserving more than 200 protected trees that have become part of the property’s identity.

Parking is tucked below ground, allowing the gardens and mature trees to remain the focus. Large roof overhangs made from steel and wood help protect the building from Austin’s intense afternoon sun, while the trees naturally contribute shade and cooling throughout the property. The result is a hotel that feels comfortably woven into the estate without competing with its historic surroundings.

West-facing guest areas open onto a private pool courtyard, creating outdoor spaces that enjoy views across the landscape while giving visitors a welcome break from the nearby city streets.

Inside, Clayton Korte developed interiors inspired by the colours of the surrounding landscape. Deep forest greens and rich browns appear throughout the hotel, creating spaces that feel warm without becoming overly formal.

These natural tones are paired with contemporary floral wallcoverings, crisp pinstripe upholstery, embroidered drapery and custom white oak millwork. Plush seating adds comfort throughout the shared spaces, while clean architectural lines and durable exterior materials give the building a refined appearance that complements the historic estate.

High ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows fill the guest rooms with natural light. Rich hardwood flooring, marble sinks and deep bathtubs continue the elevated material palette, giving visitors the comforts of home within a boutique hotel setting.

A highlight of the hotel is Henry’s, the all-day restaurant and bar that serves both hotel guests and locals. The venue combines forest green tones, floral wallcoverings and tailored pinstripe furnishings to create a distinctive atmosphere that feels polished while remaining welcoming.

The lounge, bar and casual dining spaces overlook the pool courtyard, making them natural gathering places throughout the day. Together they extend the social character that Green Pastures has been known for over generations.

Beyond its accommodation, The Inn at Green Pastures has been designed as a destination for celebrations, events and everyday escapes. Dedicated event spaces sit alongside the lounge, restaurant, fitness centre and pool, giving guests a variety of places to gather during their stay.
Resident peacocks continue to roam the estate, adding another reminder of the property’s long history. Combined with the extensive oak canopy and landscaped grounds, the setting offers an experience that feels remarkably peaceful despite being only blocks from Austin’s cultural and shopping districts.

For well over a century, Green Pastures has welcomed visitors to this corner of Austin. The Inn at Green Pastures builds on that history with architecture that respects the estate’s past while introducing new spaces for travelers, dining, and special occasions.
By preserving its remarkable landscape and pairing it with contemporary architecture and inviting interiors, Clayton Korte has created a boutique hotel that gives one of Austin’s historic properties an exciting new future.
