Design firm Wutopia Lab has recently completed the renovation of the Hubei Foreign Language Bookstore in Wuhan, China.
The bookstore, which has been in business for more than 40 years, received a new mountain-inspired facade as part of the overall renovation project.
Layers of perforated aluminum plates in the shape of mountains were designed to create a background for the street trees and symbolize the new life of the Hubei Foreign Language Bookstore.
At night, lighting hidden behind the various layers of the facade highlight the lines of the mountains, and create a light art installation that can be enjoyed from the street.
