Matt Garcia Design has designed a 500 square foot addition for a home that was the firm’s first major commission.
Surrounded by nature in Austin, Texas, the ‘Stratford Creek Rambler’ now has more room for the homeowners to relax and unwind in.
Taking advantage of the steep site, the new addition is set a full level below the house, providing a strong connection with the active creek below.
The roof of the addition creates a large green living area and extends the original wood deck.
A wrap-around deck provides views of the trees and connects with a staircase the allows for easy access around the property.
Inside, the walls are white, large windows and sliding doors allow natural light to filter through, a sliding barn door with black hardware allows for access to the bathroom, and a custom shelving unit surrounds the television.
There’s also a new outdoor shower that gives the owners a spot to rinse off after a long run or bike ride.
